This is the first ornament in the Lionel Trains Hallmark Keepsake Series. This is a great deal on a first-of-series ornament. Lionel Trains is a very popular series among Hallmark collectors and train collectors alike. The ornaments are based on the Lionel toy trains that kids and adults have collected for over a century. Each year, since 1996, Hallmark has issued a Lionel locomotive ornament. Starting in 1999, ornaments such as passenger cars, observation cars, and tenders were added as complements to the series. The Lionel Trains Series continues this year with the 2008 Lionel New York Central Locomotive, Observation Car, and Passenger Car. There is also a miniature Lionel series called Lionel Norfolk and Western. It lasted for three years, 1999 thru 2001.
